Besides “Lighters” and to a lesser extent “Echoes” this EP was some solid lyrical dexterity between friends and I can’ wait to see what a Bad Meets Evil sounds like! The faux-Prince beat is pretty awesome by itself, but Wale ups the raunchiness and actually wins somehow. The beat is overpowering the lyrics completely and Rick Ross turns in one of his worst verses ever. Haven’t been up on too much Gotti as of late, obviously the nigga is still making it seem like moving bricks is the only way to support his children.
I never expected to like this album in the capacity that I do, but here we are. There isn’t much more to say, but I like it and if I don’t talk it to death that’s actually a good thing. Those other dudes didn’t fare any better really, so no one scored more points than the other in the 4th quarter or anything like that. Illest Bitch This beat is like the lovechild of DJ Toomp and Bryan Michael-Cox or something. This shit is nice and we finally get to hear some more earnest words from our host.
While the numerous turns into R&B territory late in the proceedings may be kind of boring on repeated listens, the album is stellar elsewhere. Focused This song can rot in an abandoned disco-tech. Sabotage I literally spent the first listen wondering when the real drums were gonna kick in. I’d probably like this song if the overall backing were……?
You can only listen to so much “it’s going down, basement”. So why does this mean he has to make beats that sound exactly like 40’s? What the hell is happening to this album right now? And that has absolutely nothing to do with anything else here. Favorites: “Don’t Hold Your Applause” “Lotus Flower Bomb” “Chain Music” “Illest Bitch” Playing this in the hooptie will make you intentionally get pulled over.
Alright so, we’ve been pretty gone for the past…….. Download Dreamchasers 2 For my final post of the year, I’d like to share with you my most listened to albums from the past two years.
First, we want to give you some new MMG shit(if you haven’t already downloaded it from datpiff to help crash the servers.) That Rozay dubbed “Philadelphia Millionaire” Meek gives you the second installment of the Dreamchasers series, perfect time to start building buzz for his Dreams and Nightmares album coming in August.
Meaning it just got that much harder to catch everything he’s saying. While 2009’s was the same thing for Marshall Mathers.
It may have been unwittingly, but Eminem repeated a pattern from his debut: the weird quirky album with small peeks into the more depressing side of himself, followed by an album almost entirely fueled by emotion and with a heaping helping of loud as fuck vocals.
