She worked at Lee’s Motor Inn, Brady’s Memorial in Mitchell, SD and was also an Avon Representative through those careers.She was active in the community of Oacoma as a Cub Scout Leader and volunteered on the Oacoma Centennial Committee.On June 1, 1952, Jo Ann married Lorne Houser in Chamberlain, SD.From this union, four children were born: Dan, Greg, Susan, and Mike.After high school, he attended the University of South Dakota at Springfield for one year.
She later graduated from Murdo High School before going on to Springfield Normal College where she obtained a teaching certificate. She married Carroll Broecher November 11, 1937 in Kennebec, SD, making their home on a farm near Murdo.
To this union, four children were born: Ruth, Edith, Jean and Warren.
As the children grew, the family moved into Murdo so they could attend school.
Walters, 96, of Brandon, SD, and former long-time Lyman County farmer and rancher, passed away February 6, 2018, at Bethany Meadows Assisted Living in Brandon.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 10, at am, at American Lutheran Church, Presho. Isburg Hofmeister Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements. Ray was born at home in Hamill, SD on December 6, 1934.
